There's a review in the New York Times of Laura Hillenbrand's lastest, work, Unbroken, her first book since Seabiscuit.
I write a fair amount of book reviews, for Kirkus and for ForeWord/Clarion, and for The Internet Review of Books, but put a gun to my head, I would not claim to be anywhere in Janet Maslin's class, but this review struck me as ... well, if I were a
psychologist, I'd call it "passive aggressive."
Quite a trick it is to use the author's strengths against the person. Or maybe I have a chip on my shoulder.
Is Maslin's review of Hillenbrand's latest work a fair review?
As for me, my latest, The Adults by Alison Espach, is up at Kirkus Reviews.
