The Animal Dialogues

The December publication date of the Internet Review of Books is approaching. My contribution this month will be a review of The Animal Dialogues: Uncommon Encounters in the Wild by Craig Childs.

It's a Back Bay book by Little, Brown and Company, and it will be released this month.

It's a book a reader can pick up, open to the encounter with nearly any animal the author meets, and enjoy Mr. Childs way with words ...

"Fog hangs as if the ropes and pulleys holding the sky have snapped."

"Time escapes me, turned into a vigilance so taut I cannot think a single word."

"Everywhere I go I leave a swath of myself, my labor set deep into the elegant folds of snow, my skis buried in their own trough, poles plunging beside me."

Watch for the review.
